THE COLL(ECTION) 19.

INPPUT affirms itself as on experimental brand, where the creative and productive processes are part of the DNA that defines it. Design is(in)process. This first collection showcases how various materials con work in symbiosis with different production techniques, from the more traditional to the most technological. We work strategically with local industries with the purpose of making the most of the know-how gathered by master craftsmen over the years, and simultaneously melding this ancestral knowledge with the most recent technological production processes.

The design hos been thought out in a rational multifactorial and dynamic manner. From form to "form follows experience", the object's subjectivity, both in its essence and its use, is explored in detail. More than just designing objects, we plan sensory experiences on all their fullness. All of our products are proudly made in Portugal.

EDGE

SERIES

The Edge series explores the rational balance between form and function. The line as structure and the bordering element of shape. Based on a strong geometric composition, the pieces have a modular character, which allows the achievement of various compositions in accordance with specific needs. Formally, all of the design of the shapes were inspired by the work of designer and artist Max Bill, where colour, geometry and dynamics create versatile and functional grammar.

SPLINE

SERIES

A chair is a classic case-study, that over the years has accompanied the evolution of design theory and history.

A striking object that has defined the identity and ideologies of design brands.

In this series, the aim was to connect three completely different materials in a harmonious and consistent way, while also conferring it with functionality, tectonics and comfort. The chairs will have different dimensions and different inputs that will work as add-ons. In this first incursion, the Wave chair was designed.

WIREFRAME

SERIES

In graphic computation, the concept of wireframe translates as a set of generator lines that define a three-dimensional surface. In this set, benches of different dimensions adjust to each function, living organisms that transform into flower pots, shelves, side tables, etc.

Conceptually, the dynamic lines of Manfred Mohr were utilized to define the entire structure.

The seat uses a language inspired by the op artists Victor Vasarely and Bridger Riley, that generate optical patterns in wood.

CAUSTIC

SERIES

The Caustic Lamps are an excellent example of the brand’s philosophy. It is a high-tech/low-tech approach, where craftsman practices are mixed with technological processes.

The forms and textures are developed through algorithms that generate not only generative patterns, but also potentiate the effects of the caustics. The pieces were delicately worked on by master glassmakers that shaped the glass according to this aesthetic input.

SHADOW

SERIES

In INPPUT’s first collection, the theme of light was approached from different angles: Caustics, translucence and shadows. The shadow lamps exploit the play between light and shadow. A theatre of shadows that seeks to create a play of intersections with multiple geometric patterns. If previous lamps made use of glass and polyamide, with these models we opted to go for the know-how of woodworkers. Given its opaqueness, wood was the chosen material.

SCRIPT

SERIES

The script lamps explore the aesthetics of generative algorithms associated to the world of mathematics, geometry and biomimetics. Based on the parametric

and computational experimentation of shapes, complex geometries where the light is worled upon by the density of form and the material’s translucence.

3D printing (SLS) was the technology chosen to bring this new typology of lamps to life.

L SYSTEM

SERIES

In graphic computation, an L-System or a Lindenmayer System is one rewritten in parallel and a type of formal grammar. Based on this concept, we created four modules, SHIFT L, that constitute the input of a grammar of form that can be combined in different manners.

A system of modular shelving that can be used to store either large or small objects. There are two versions, one with patterns and one without. It’s a creative puzzle that joins form and function in a particularly dynamic and generative way.
